Many companies have made the switch to compostable coffee pouches. This is definitely a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, the valves and seals/zippers are often not compostable and need to be removed and thrown away with regular rubbish. Moreover, many of the bags are not home-compostable, but instead need to be sent for industrial composting. Even for the home-compostable pouches, many people across the UK live in areas where food waste is not collected by their local council. Additionally, even for those who are able to compost their coffee pouches, this process can take several months.
We circumvent the issues described above by simply packing your coffee in a recyclable paper bag, and allowing you to transfer it to your own container for storage at home. Click here to learn more about how to store your coffee.
